In my mind, this picture creates more questions then it answers. You intended that.
I had to think a long time about the expression on your face. Was it intended to project no emotion? or, that you are thinking? When I have seen you thinking, your face projects more emotion.
While I like the shape of the shadow on the wall, it and the sharp focus on your left ear draw my attention away from your eye. That makes me wonder why you did not want to make it easy for us to focus our attention on your face or eye?
One of the illusions is that your beard is in focus. This creates an interesting contrast with your OOF hair. Your manipulation of focus and light add to your message.
Please consider reprocessing it as High Key and see if you like it.
